Who’s under the umbrella?
Designer Jane Tomlinson spent many years working for a Chicago-based strategic communications firm, sharpening her design skills and business savvy. But something was missing. She dreamed of using her talent to do something creative and independent.
Vying for a sense of accomplishment and a creative outlet, Jane began designing wedding and social invitations for friends and colleagues. As the word spread, requests poured in for her high quality custom designs and Jane realized she’d found her niche. The perfect balance for an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit and passion for design, Ink Umbrella evolved into a successful reality.
In tandem with design and creative execution, Jane has years of experience in communications and a degree in Public Relations from Miami University in Ohio. Her personal approach and strong work ethic results in creative, one-of-a-kind solutions that keep her clients happy.
What’s in a name?
Ink Umbrella is a double entendre. While it literally refers to a variety of design services offered under one umbrella, Jane holds the other meaning close to her heart. Carrying around her trusty (yet fashionable) umbrella at a party (it wasn’t raining) sparked a conversation with a very cute redhead who later became her husband (and the best reason to design a wedding invitation).
Jane resides in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood with her husband Joe, baby girl, Caroline, golden retriever, Henry… and of course, that trusty umbrella.
